I posted this on my personal blog yesterday but I figure that it carries some weight here as well.

In order for it to make a little more sense, I have to explain something. My job description says that I am a proofreader but it’s probably not what you would consider a conventional proofreading job, something I had before this one.

If anything, my job is pretty much to look at clean copies and compare them to redlined versions to ensure that all of the changes and corrections were made. I don’t edit; I compare, contrast, and put stickies all over when necessary — for labels and other documents in up to 24 languages. It’s hardly proofreading but hey, it’s a job nonetheless.

With all that in mind, have a gander at the image below. And then it will make more sense.

There’s a meme floating around and I’d be quite remiss by not taking advantage of it.

Take note, however, that this assessment is based on my extremely limited capacity as a proofreader in my current position for a company that will remain nameless.
